Amazon.com Review
 | MBT believes in footwear that makes you better from the ground up. MBT: The idea of Physiological Footwear MBT, Masai Barefoot Technology, was invented by Swiss engineer Karl Müller. During a visit to Korea he made the startling discovery that walking barefoot over paddy fields alleviated his back pain. Back in Switzerland, Müller began to develop a footwear technology that would make the natural instability of soft ground such as Korean paddy fields or the East African savannah accessible also to those, who have to walk on hard surfaces. In 1996, after years spent on research and development, Masai Barefoot Technology was mature enough to be launched on the market. MBTs are now available in over twenty countries, and approximately one million pairs of this revolutionary footwear technology are sold every year. How the anti-shoe is pro-body: Because of the specially designed sole, wearing MBTs significantly improves your gait and posture and relieves pressure on your joints and back. It also exercises a large number of muscles, whether you’re walking or standing. This, in turn, stimulates your metabolism, burns extra calories and speeds up muscle regeneration. In addition, MBTs can have a firming effect on abdominal, leg and buttock muscles. The key to MBT is its patented sole structure. The Shank, PU Midsole with Pivot and the Masai Sensor create a soft surface that is akin to walking barefoot on springy moss or on a sandy beach. This creates a natural instability underfoot, which activates the supporting muscle system and has positive effects on the entire body. | MBT technology mimicks walking in barefeet. | Wearing MBT mimicks walking on soft, natural ground. When the heel strikes, the heel sinks into the ground and the body has to stabilize. When the foot rolls forward, there is a controlled rolling over the balancing area towards the ball of the foot. The toe rolls off (without pressure). | MBT's ensure the foot’s natural rolling movement and optimizes pressure distribution over the whole sole. | The Anti-Shoe MBT would like to help people all over the world lead a healthier, more active and happier life. MBT is convinced that human fitness and health are significantly influenced by the way we walk – this conviction has already been substantiated objectively by many scientific studies. MBT therefore attempts to awaken and strengthen the awareness of physiologically correct walking among people world-wide by disseminating the idea and concept of MBT physiological footwear. The benefits of physiologically correct walking can thus be made available to as many people as possible all over the world, in a straightforward and uncomplicated way. | MBT's Masai Sensor creates natural instability, to which the body responds with increased muscle activity. | MBT's Patented Sole Technology The Lasting Board binds the upper and lower parts of MBTs together. The Shank provides firmness to the sole and also ensures the foot’s natural rolling movement and optimizes pressure distribution over the whole sole. The PU Midsole with Pivot triggers an active rolling movement and exercises a large number of stabilizing muscles throughout the entire body when walking or standing. The Masai Sensor creates natural instability, to which the body responds with increased muscle activity. The rubber Outsole protects the Midsole. |

Amazing! Gift from God January 22, 2009 Klyde (Yakima, WA USA) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
My first MBTs; these mary janes work for me and I have chubby feet. I do not find the straps too short and the heel does not slip up and down. I went with my regular shoe size even though I understand most people go a size up. They feel a little tight when standing, but when walking they are like extensions of my feet and feel great. I bought them in Seattle, walked (rolled) out of the store with them on and walked around the city the rest of the day. They did not take any "getting used to." (I had been wearing more fashionable, but still practical shoes and my feet were aching.) A few days later I walked 3.5 miles uphill and downhill in them with no problems. Usually, my hip bothers me for the last mile or so, but not with these shoes on! And the walk went faster than usual and was much more fun. I got them in denim and they look great with dark jeans. I am so impressed with them that I am considering taking them on an adventure tour in Costa Rica for hiking. They seem to perform fine on rocks and uneven terrain.
These are the shoes for plantar fasciatis December 4, 2008 Margarella (IE CA USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
For years I've become more and more sedentary because my heels hurt SO MUCH due to plantar fasciatis.
With these shoes (I have 2 pairs of MBTs) I can be on my feet for 10 hours straight and not feel a bit of strain. This is on the level of a miracle cure! It's amazing to me that these shoes were never prescribed or suggested to me by the foot surgeons/physical therapists i've been to.
I do find them hot, as did the last reviewer. But small matter compared to the new lease on life (or being on my feet, anyway!)
Changed My Life, Ever So Grateful January 4, 2009 L. McKenzie 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have suffered from ball of foot pain for for over 2 years. I have been to the podiatrist and to an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in feet. I have had various physical therapies. Ortho pads have helped especially the "dancer pad" from Hapad, but despite my efforts, walking was something to be avoided, and so many things I once enjoyed doing were now out of the question. I bought these shoes, my first MBT's, about 2 months ago. I wear them with my "dancer pad." I can walk anywhere. I can go on vacation, and walk for hours. I am so thrilled, it is hard to describe. What a pity I did not try these a long time ago! If you have a foot problem, these are sure worth a try. They are not the prettiest shoes, but when I regained the ability to walk in comfort, pretty was not even a factor. Now that I can walk in comfort, I think they are beautiful! I have now also purchased an MBT sandal. I'm back!
Cured My Lower Back Problems April 22, 2009 Tascha Folsoi (Santa Monica, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This shoe feels a little wobbly at first, but I was willing to try anything to help with my foot, knee, hip, and back problems. Actually, I was only hoping for help with my foot problems: heel spur and and broken bone on the ball of my foot. The heel spur is still bothering me, but all of my other problems disappeared within a week of wearing the shoes every day. (I am a teacher, so I spend a lot of time on my feet -the shoes had ample opportunity to do their magic.) My lower back pain had me doubled over each time I got out of bed or stood after sitting/driving for any period of time.
I highly recommend these shoes for anyone suffering from the above pains or similar injuries. Mine were caused by childbirth (two kids in less than 18 months in my late 30s) and by picking up two heavy kids. Another person might have better luck than I have with heel spurs. I have always dragged my feet, and I find it hard to walk with the proper heel-toe step. The shoe should comes with a video that you should watch.

I have not taken this shoe off my feet since I put it on three weeks ago. I love them! Walking now is painless. It is worth every penny. This is a well made shoe and whoever made it knows about walking. Thank you for a fast delivery!
